The Journal of Marketing paper (that you’ll find a link to and discussion of in the previous post) was the outcome of a six year effort driven by my colleague Minu Kumar in the San Francisco Statue University Lam Family College of Business where he is the Founder-Director of the Responsible Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RI&E) Research Initiative.
The project began when I was teaching a section of the Design Thinking course offering to students majoring in marketing studies at the SFSU business school. Since then, I have moved on to teach a quite different course more centered on ethical design–Design Thinking for Social Change–at the Pacific School of Religion. It has been a delight to have continued working with Minu, both on the paper as well as at annual conferences he has organized on behalf of the RI&E Research Initiative.
So I was extra delighted to be invited by Minu to present the paper at the monthly “brown-bag” event Minu organizes, along with his colleague Professor Chenwei Li on April 14th 2026. Doing this via Zoom afforded the benefit of a recording of the event which was worth watching, I think, as much for the rich discussion that followed my presentation as it was for the presentation itself.
Enjoy!
