In 2004, after 20 years designing product – furniture, technology, medical devices – I decided to try my hand at creating my own products and services, and found that designing the venture itself represented a most interesting kind of design challenge, for it required me to engage in design disciplines across the spectrum: product design, architecture, brand design, graphic design, web design. What I found most exciting was however was the opportunity to design the core elements of the business itself – service design, brand design and business model design.
